The U.S. says it will extend its land border restrictions until August 21st. Officials say that the risk of disease transmission between the United States and Canada poses a significant threat to the populations.

Canadians who qualify for essential travel must still show a negative COVID-19 test three days prior to departure or proof of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days. U.S. citizens and permanent residents wishing to travel to Canada as of August 9th must have received a full dose of either Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson. Travelers may be exempt from quarantine and post-arrival testing if they meet all the requirements.
