Infused with a rich history, an upbeat atmosphere, and astounding architecture, Milan is a popular destination. From incredible shopping to the impressive Cathedral, this stylish city has something for everyone. That includes nightlife enthusiasts!

Whether you're interested in bar hopping, dancing the night away, or getting glammed up for a fashion club, there's something for you in Milan. Get ready to strut your stuff!

From sophisticated bars to exclusive clubs, Milan nightlife has it all. In this guide, I'll explore Milan's different types of nightlife and the best districts to enjoy it. You'll find everything about dress codes, late-night parties, and safety for solo female travelers. Andiamo!

The Best Nightlife Experiences in Milan

If there's one thing I love, it's a big night out. From chilled happy hours to bar hopping, nights out in Milan are something special! Whether you're looking for a few chilled drinks or something more energetic, these are my top picks for unmissable Milan nightlife.

Aperitivo Culture

Let's start with a famous part of the Milan lifestyle—aperitivo. It's like Spanish tapas combined with the concept of happy hour. Aperitivo occurs in bars and cafes between 6 pm and 9 pm, after work, and before dinner.

A classic aperitivo is a refreshing drink like an Aperol Spritz accompanied by a few bites of finger food. Many places offer a buffet-style spread of appetizers and small plates. Just make sure to leave some room for dinner!

Want to mix it up? Combine aperitivo culture and a street food tour into one! This walking tour includes a range of bars and restaurants in top destinations like Navigli and Porta Ticinese. You'll get to sample cheese, wines, cocktails, and even the famous Milanese cutlet. Before you let loose in the Milan nightlife scene, don't miss a classic aperitivo!

DJ Sets & Live Music

If you're anything like me and love dancing to some serious beats, you will be pleased with what Milan offers. From techno to house to hip hop, Milan is home to world-class DJs and local legends that let the beats drop, weekend after weekend.

Best Clubs in Milan for Students

There's lots to keep you occupied in Milan, and just because you're on a student budget doesn't mean you have to miss out. The sightseeing costs can add up, but budget travelers can still have a great time in Milan.

On my trip, I visited the following wallet-friendly clubs:

  • Old Fashion Club
  • Le Banque
  • Alcatraz
  • Tunnel Club
  • Super Club
  • Fashion Clubs

Italy's fashion capital oozes style. So much so that even clubs are dedicated to it! Milan's fashion clubs are intertwined with a chic and glamorous ambiance. Attracting fashion-focused party enthusiasts from around the globe, this is the ultimate place to show off. Often frequented by models, celebrities, and fashion designers, you can expect to pay big bucks. The fashion clubs offer the best nightlife in Milan if you're looking for an exclusive experience.

The Best Milan Districts to Visit for Nightlife

Brera District

Known as one of Milan's trendiest districts, Brera is a place that comes alive at night. Known for its bohemian vibe, Brera offers countless bars, restaurants, and cafes. Whether you're looking to keep it cozy in a wine bar or strut your stuff in a cocktail lounge, there's something for every type of traveler.

Navigli District

Milan's nightlife scene is surprisingly diverse, and the Navigli is one of the most popular spots to let loose. Situated around the historic canal system, Navigli is lined with buzzing bars and bustling restaurants.

If you're looking for things to do in Milan at night, this district shines on the weekends. Drawing in younger crowds, you can really feel the energy pumping. The Navigli District is home to some of the best clubs in Milan.

Corso Como

Corso Como is the place to be if you want something exclusive and high-end. Home to some of the city's most luxurious clubs and bars, this fashionable street is steeped in style. Put on your most fabulous outfit and sashay down to Corso Como!

Even if you're on a budget, it's worth passing by Corso Como to glimpse the high-fashion outfits and stylish bars. We can all dream, right?! This slice of Milan nightlife makes for quite the show!

A Few Things to Remember

Dress Codes

The Milan clubbing scene takes things to the next level. Considering you will be visiting the fashion capital, you can expect fashion to be a big part of the culture. Most clubs and upscale venues enforce a dress code. Don't be surprised if you get turned away wearing flip-flops or a tank top. I've seen it happen many times.

Italians take fashion seriously, especially in Milan. "La bella figura," literally "the beautiful figure," is a way of life for both men and women. It's not so much to do with body shape. It's more about making an effort to look your best at all times. And in Milan, people make an effort to look their best!

So put your sneakers and shorts away and whip out your hottest threads. If you struggle to find budget-friendly pieces, look through Pinterest for inspiration.

Safety in Milan

Milan is a safe city for travelers. However, there are a few safety concerns to take into consideration.

Like any major city, being aware of your surroundings is important, especially at night. Avoid poorly-lit streets and walking alone at night, especially if you're a solo female traveler.

If you want a taste of the Milan nightlife scene, avoid getting overly intoxicated, and don't accept drinks from strangers. If you're coming home from the club or bar, opt for a taxi and make sure they're using the meter.
