Short answer: Yes!!!

Why Should You Visit Cancun?

Beaches in Cancun

Cancun is one of the world's busiest tropical destinations, for a good reason. Cancun is definitely the place to be known for its spectacular beaches, relaxing turquoise waters, and year-round warm weather.

In addition to the beautiful attractions, Cancun is also home to various shops, restaurants, and hotels. Visitors can find everything from high-end luxury hotels to more budget-friendly options.

But can I still visit Cancun if I'm on a tight budget? Aren't there expensive resorts and hotels everywhere?

Is Cancun Expensive to Visit?

Cancun conjures visions of white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and daiquiris served in pineapple husks. But is this place as expensive as it looks in pictures?

It can be pretty affordable to visit Cancun - if you know where to go (and where to avoid). You don't need to blow your budget on a luxury hotel - there are plenty of mid-range options that will still put you right on the beach!

Food & Drinks

When it comes to food and drink, you can find cheap eats in Cancun - just steer clear of the tourist traps that line the main drag. And if you're happy to stick to local beer and rum, you'll save a fortune on your bar bill!

Nightlife

Cancun is famous for its nightlife, and there's no shortage of ways to spend your evenings (and your pesos). But if you know where to look, you can find plenty of free and low-cost entertainment. So yes, Cancun can be expensive - but it doesn't have to be!

With some planning, you can enjoy all this destination has to offer without breaking the bank.

10 Exciting Things To Do in Cancun!

Here's my personal list of things that I found to be the best things to do in Cancun. Besides from the obvious relaxing on the beach, there are some exciting things you can do while you're in Cancun, Mexico!

10. Boat Ride to Isla Mujeres

The ride to Isla Mujeres from Cancun is short but jam-packed with exploration and adventure.

The boat leaves from the marina early in the morning, and as soon as you set sail, you're treated to a front-row seat to the most beautiful sunrises. As you approach the island, you can see the ancient Maya ruins of El Faro standing proudly on the cliffs.

Once you disembark, you have the entire day to explore the island. Isla Mujeres is home to some of the best beaches in Mexico and a lively downtown area with great shopping and restaurants.

Be sure to dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea before heading back to Cancun in the late afternoon!

9. Enjoy Quintana Roo's Underground Stalactite Rivers

Deep below Quintana Roo's surface is a hidden world of Underground Stalactite Rivers. These rivers are formed by rainwater that seeps through the limestone rock and dissolves it over time. This process creates expansive caverns and intricate stalactite formations.

Although the rivers are hidden from view, they are still essential to the local ecosystem. The water that flows through these rivers helps to recharge the groundwater aquifers and provides a habitat for various subterranean creatures.

In recent years, some of these rivers have been opened to tourists, offering an opportunity to explore this fantastic underground world.

8. Explore Nichupte Lagoon

While swimming should be at the top of your itineraries in Cancun, Nichupte Lagoon is definitely an exception.

Located on the eastern coast of Cancun, Nichupte Lagoon is a large and shallow body of water filled with beautiful sceneries and wildlife. In fact, the lagoon is home to a wide variety of wildlife floras and faunas, including crocodiles, mangroves, and several species of fish.

Nichupte Lagoon is renowned for scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing destinations. The clear, calm waters make it an ideal spot for observing marine life. In addition, the lagoon is surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. Nichupte Lagoon is a must-see for any traveler to Cancun.

7. Watch Lucha Libre Wrestling Match

Lucha Libre is a traditional Mexican wrestling form known for its flashy, acrobatic moves and colorful costumes.

The wrestlers, or luchadores, typically wear masks to conceal their identities, which adds to the mystery and excitement of the sport. Lucha Libre matches are often high-flying affairs, with luchadores performing a variety of daring flips and twists.

The matches are also usually fast-paced and action-packed, making them a thrilling spectacle for spectators. If you're looking for an unconventional sporting event to watch, a Lucha Libre match is worth checking out.

6.Marvel at Nature at Las Coloradas

Just when you thought the world was running out of color, Mother Nature goes and proves us all wrong. Las Coloradas is a natural wonderland located in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Just a short drive from the popular tourist destination of Tulum, Las Coloradas is a must-see for nature lovers and photographers alike.

The deep pink lakes are formed by a combination of sunlight, algae, and salt deposits, and the result is truly breathtaking. In addition to the stunning lakes, Las Coloradas is home to abundant wildlife, including iguanas, flamingos, and turtles.

With so much to see and do, Las Coloradas is an unforgettable destination that should not be missed.

5. Dive into the Water at Cenote Ik Kil

There's no better way to cool off on a hot day than diving into the refreshing water at Cenote Ik Kil. This idyllic spot is located in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula, and it's well worth a visit if you're ever in the area.

The cenote is surrounded by lush jungles, with a platform where you can dive from up to 26 feet. The water is crystal clear and refreshing, and it's a great place to take a dip on a hot day.

You can swim through a small underwater cave if you're feeling adventurous. Just be sure to wear your life jacket!

Today, the ruins of the Tulum are a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the temples, pyramids, and palaces that once made up this great city. A day trip to Tulum is a fun and educational experience for people of all ages.

3. Wander the Chichen Itza Ruins

The Chichen Itza ruins are fun to explore for people of all ages. When you first wander through the site, you'll see a lot of ancient ruins. But as you explore further, you'll find more to Chichen Itza than just ruins.

There are also several well-preserved historic buildings, and you can learn about the history of the site by exploring these buildings.

In addition, several interactive exhibits will teach you about the Mayan culture. As you wander through Chichen Itza, you'll get a chance to learn about one of the most fascinating cultures in the world.

2. Explore the Museo Subacuático de Arte (MUSA)

If you're looking for a truly unique underwater experience, the Museo Subacuático de Arte (MUSA) is worth a visit.

This one-of-a-kind museum features over 500 sculptures submerged in the waters off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. Visitors can scuba dive or snorkel through the sculpture garden, admiring the artwork from a new perspective.

The sculptures are made from materials designed to withstand salt water's corrosive effects, so they should be around for many years to come. And with new additions to the museum, there's always something new to see.

Whether you're a seasoned scuba diver or a curious sightseer, the Museo Subacuático de Arte is sure to offer an unforgettable experience.
