Now I know what you may be thinking. lululemon sounds expensive, and it's also for yoga-enthusiasts! Whether you're looking for value-for-money or you haven't been to a yoga class ever, you'd be surprised at how versatile some of the lululemon clothing items are.

What Is Lululemon? 

lululemon is a Canadian multi-national athletic apparel retailer headquartered in British Columbia. It was founded in 1998 as a retailer of yoga pants and other yoga wear. Since then it has expanded its collection to also sell athletic wear, lifestyle apparel, accessories, and personal care products.

As you probably already know, lululemon has been growing in popularity ever since and they have successfully expanded globally. They’ve come a long way from starting as a single design/yoga studio in Canada to operating over 650 stores around the world.

We've done a review of lululemon before, but I wanted to be more in-depth. That's why I decided to try out a specific item and tell you about my experience using it!

What Is lululemon's Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt?

Although the Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt is more geared to be a "tennis skirt", I found it much more useful!

With summer coming up, I’ve been looking for a skirt that’s easy to move around in with all of the summer activities I have planned! I'm someone who loves to kayak and go for bike rides around the Vancouver Sea Wall, so I needed a skirt that would go with my active summer lifestyle.

But another important factor? Making sure this new functional skirt was also fashionable, so that it matches my outfits that I can wear out to dinner.

That's when I came across the Pace Rival Skirt. It's one of Lululemon’s newer athletic skirts that's great for running and tennis.

The Skirt's Advertised Features

Let's dive into some of the top features of this newer lululemon skirt...

Built-In Shorts

As I said, this skirt is made to be great for athletic activities, like running and tennis, because it has built-in liner shorts underneath. With these "safety shorts" you won’t have to worry about accidents while you get a bit competitive with friends in a skirt.

Does this mean it's actually a lululemon skort?! Either way, the built-in shorts definitely up the greatness of this skirt.

Lightweight, Sweat Wicking Fabric

I tried the Pace Rival Skirt out a few time and found it to be very lightweight. Plus, it wicks all the gross sweat away from my legs—a definite plus if you have larger thighs like my friend who also enjoyed lululemon's gear. 

When you’re working out you can keep pushing yourself to go harder and you won’t feel super sweaty because of the breathable material that takes your sweat away.

Versatile: Offered in 9 Colors!

The Pace Rival skirt comes in 9 different colors, meaning it definitely checks off the versatility checkbox.

Depending on your style, you can pick up your own skirt in the following colors: Powder Blue, Garrogeo Multi/Summer Glow, Lemon Sorbet, Electric Lemon, Heritage 365 Camo Deep Coal Multi, Elixir, Highlight Yellow, Veiled Floral Black Multi, Transverse Lilac Multi

Fashionable

This skirt's also a fashionable addition to your wardrobe as tennis skirts are making a comeback. It’s definitely reminiscent of when tennis skirts were popular in a big way in 2014, and here we are again almost 10 years later. 

However, will this skirt live up to the hype of what it offers and will we fall in love with it? Or is this just another iteration of a passing fad that will be recycled again in another 10-20 years?

I tried it out for a month and I want to tell you a bit more about what I found while pairing it and wearing it...

Comes in Different Lengths

Not only does this skirt come in multiple different colors, but it also gives you options for what length to buy. This is a great feature that's available because I'm taller, so some skirts do end up a bit short on me. In fact, you'll see more on this in a later section about my personal experience.

Depending on your height, you have the option to pick 12", 15" and 17".

lululemon Pace Rival Skirt Cost

When people think of lululemon, I'm sure that price is often the first thing that comes to mind. Most people who know lululemon also know that its products are on the pricier end.

The Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt is approximately US$60, before taxes. Some versions of this skirt are "online only" purchases and can be paid for with afterpay or Klarna if you want to pay in instalments.

My Experiences With the Pace Rival Skirt 

Here’s how my experience went down wearing the Pace Rival Skirt. Hopefully reading my firsthand review can help you decide which lululemon skirt to buy for your next trip this summer. 

Personal Positives of Wearing This lululemon Skirt

Initial thoughts were that the skirt was very easy and comfortable to slip on and off. I liked how the fabric was quite stretchy which made moving around and walking around my neighbourhood a breeze. 

I could tell they put a lot of care into this product to make it simple for women to be athletic and look cute at the same time. Personally, I love it when I can look nice and be able to do anything in my workout routine. 

I haven’t gone kayaking or done a more high-effort sport in this skirt, but I did go jogging around the sea wall and shorts underneath made running in a skirt feel more natural and comfortable. 

The lightweight and sweat-wicking technology of the fabric was a great benefit to have as I didn’t feel super gross after my run and still felt like I could still run more or go for a long walk around the city.

I also love that you can dress up and down for any occasion you need. I was able to go out with friends for brunch and then go to the gym after and I didn’t even need to change.

Downsides I Experienced With the Pace Rival Skirt

There were a few hiccups with the skirt though. As with anything, nothing is perfect there were a few minor details with the skirt that were downsides. 

I ordered the skirt online and when it came in the mail it was extremely wrinkly. I would have thought that Lululemon would have had its quality assurance check its products before shipping them off to make sure the items are in the most pristine condition. 

Another downside that I experienced was that their sizing guide was not the most accurate for me. At first, when I purchased it I got the 12” skirt—that was too short for my body type. So, I had to exchange it for the slightly longer 15” skirt.

I definitely wish the sizing guide was clearer the first time since it was a bit of a hassle needing to go and exchange. That being said, I realize that it’s hard to buy clothes online when you don’t know your size exactly. 

Would I Travel With the Pace Rival Skirt?

That's the real question, right? Just because an item is good at home, it doesn't mean it'd be a good travel companion. But in this case, I would definitely pack the lululemon Pace Rival Skirt!

Although it wouldn't come with me for every trip... I would mostly recommend taking it on summer vacations, island getaways, or festivals. It'd also be good if you're trying to keep your packing list minimal.

I feel like it's the perfect item for me to pack on a trip because of its chic design, which lends itself to versatile styling. Not only that, but the skirt is also practical and comfort make it a go-to piece no matter what my plans are during a trip.

Whether I'm having fun in the sun by the seaside, exploring quant European villages, or swaying to live music, this skirt fits seamlessly into my adventures. I think it proves that style and comfort can indeed travel together.

So, whether I'm curating a beach vacay packing list or planning an upcoming festival trip, you bet the lululemon Pace Rival Skirt is coming along for the ride!

Is the lululemon Pace Rival Skirt Worth It? 

I’ve come to the conclusion that the lululemon Pace Rival Skirt is definitely worth it, especially if you travel frequently and love summer getaways! 

The skirt is a high-quality clothing item that comes in many different colors, as well as neutral hues. That means you can match with a lot of different items in your existing wardrobe.

It'll fit wonderfully into your suitcase, especially if you're trying to keep it light. This lululemon skirt can be paired perfectly to dressed down to go to the gym so that you can get in a good workout. In contrast, it can also be dressed up to go out for cocktails or to dinner to take in the views of your next destination! 

I’ve never had clothes that can be fancy and also practical. And even comfortable for everyday use as well. Overall, the thing I love most is how much I can wear this skirt because it goes with so much and can be worn in so many different situations.

One thing to note is that if you are a budget-conscious shopper, this may not be the item for you. Although its great value for money because of its quality and versatility, it still carries quite a high price tag if you're not expecting to pay a high price for a skirt.

That being said, after my experience, I'm really tempted to go and pick up another lululemon skirt. Maybe I'll see you there...
