Looking forward to your next getaway? Then, you might need to think more about where you want to go, when you want to go, and how to do it. Of course, traveling or even thinking about wanting to travel can be quite stressful – if you don’t have a solid plan in hand! There's so much to do and so many things that can go wrong. So, the best way to avoid all that stress and enjoy your trip is to just plan it ahead.

This review brings you a group itinerary app that might help you and your friends and family plan trips and gather essential details in one place. Let us introduce you to Inspirock, a trip planning website that uses a research bot in assisting users with planning their trip.

The details provided by the user are fed into the research bot, and in return, the user gets to see a trip planned with recommendations for traveling, activities, and accommodations.

Read our Inspirock review to find out whether it can help you plan your next trip.

What Is Inspirock?

Inspirock is a trip planning website founded in 2012 by Anoop Goyal and Prakash Sikchi. The website was born from a place of love for travel and the need to simplify its planning and maximize its enjoyment. To provide its users with suggestions and recommendations for destinations, commute, activities, etc., the website relies on a database of over 80,000 travel destinations. From that database, they choose the most appropriate items for your trip.

Unfortunately, Inspirock does not have a mobile phone application. Your planned trip, however, can be shared with others via social media. Otherwise, you can add people as co-planners to the trip.

How Does Inspirock Make Money?

Inspirock claims that they do not charge any money from their users. Instead, Inspirock gets a commission for every trip planned using the website from hotels, transport, tour services, etc. This doesn’t affect the price charged from you, nor does it charge you to just search for a trip.

Inspirock Features

Itinerary Planner

This is the first thing that you will see when you visit the website. Using the Inspirock trip planner, you can insert the destination you would want to go to, choose the time period in which you will be traveling (arrival and departure), the number and types of people (adults, teenagers, and kids) that would be traveling, and the kind of activities you would like to do. Choosing activities is optional, though. You can choose activities that could be popular, balanced, hidden gems, etc.

Commute and Route

Once you enter the details in the itinerary planner, Inspirock shows you how long it takes to go from your current place to your destination. Inspirock trip planner calculates and allocates time for your commute, depending on the mode of transportation, and it even provides you links to websites available in those regions for booking your commute.

Day-by-Day Plan

Inspirock also provides you with a list of activities to do and sites to visit during your trip. The website provides you with a detailed plan on how much time you should spend at one location or activity and how many days you should spend in one city or town in the area you would like to visit.

What We Like About Inspirock

Convenient access and use

Inspirock is an attractive trip planner as they help you with many things within a single search. You would not have to look for things separately, and that would save you a lot of time too. The user-friendly interface of the website also makes your experience easier as it shows all the information in a simplified manner. If you are having trouble with a trip or just want to delete it, you can simply let the software know that you need help with it.

Customization

This is one of the most useful features of the website. If you do not like the planned trip given to you by Inspirock, you can add or remove items manually and change the number of days you would like to spend at each location. You can also manually select the mode of transportation you would be using once you reach your destination and get recommendations accordingly.

Ease of booking

You can even choose your own flight (if you would be going on one) via SkyScanner, a flight booking service that Inspirock works with. You also have the freedom to choose your accommodation on Booking.com or Airbnb through Inspirock. If you do not like the locations and activities suggested to you, you can always request travel agents or tour services via Inspirock itself.

What We Don’t Like About Inspirock

Recommendations are not always good

Sometimes, Inspirock seems to lack information on your preferred destination. The recommendations they make regarding places to visit and activities do not always make sense when they do not have enough information in their database. Sometimes, if they cannot make recommendations, you would only have about one or two activities do for one single day. This would mean that you would have a big chunk of space left within that day and that you might have to do extra research on places and activities the destination has to offer.

Commute

Inspirock may not be able to recommend flights and internal commute options depending on the location. Other websites like SkyScanner through which Inspirock allows you to book flights, do not always have suggestions for your preferred destination. Sometimes, the websites that Inspirock trip planner recommends do not have enough information on how internal transportation works.

Lack of Freedom

Sometimes Inspirock can get a bit too detailed in its suggestions and recommendations. The day-by-day plan given to you by Inspirock comes with time slots for each activity and place it recommends. This would mean that you would only have a limited period of time to engage in each activity and sightseeing. If you are a person who expects some sense of spontaneity in your trip, you might have to deviate from what Inspirock recommends.

Cant’s plan trips together

While Inspirock lets you share a planned trip with others or add them as co-planners, it’s not a great social travel planner. You have to chat with the co-planners on another platform and then edit the trip accordingly. We think it’s fabulous if you can do both in one platform, like Pilot. ;)

No mobile app

As we mentioned earlier, Inspirock is yet to give its users a mobile app to simplify trip planning even further. For now, it has a mobile browser version. The team says the Inspirock mobile app is on its way, so stay tuned folks!

Is Inspirock Worth It?

Inspirock is a good website when it comes to planning and sorting out the finer details of a trip. But in order to figure out if Inspirock suits your needs, you might have to think about whether the destination you are planning on going to is well known because the availability of information on sightseeing, activities, and commute/transportation all depends on whether the destination is known to Inspirock. Otherwise, you might have to do your own research and plan your trip manually.
