Rome, here we come!
What to Expect During a Night Out in Rome?
When you get to Rome, one of the first things you'll notice is how late everything starts!
Most Romans don't even leave the house for dinner and a great night out until at least 8:00 PM. If you're like me and aren't quite used to late hours, you may want to fit in a nap in the early evening.
Most wild nights in Rome start with a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants. Once you've got a full stomach, it's time to hit up some of the popular bars in the city.
Wondering where to go first or what the best of Rome's nightlife includes? You can find an incredibly vibrant and lively nightlife scene in the following Roman hotspots by midnight. If you're on your own, you might find yourself making new friends instantly!
What Are Some of the Best Places to Enjoy the Nightlife in Rome?
Whether you're more of a bar-goer or you simply want to dance to a hot European DJ, there are dozens of places to choose from for the best nights out in Rome.
As there are seriously too many options to choose from, I've picked 9 of my all-time favorite nightlife hotspots in Rome so you get to go straight to the best of the best!
9. The Magick Bar
With great DJs, delicious food, and specialty cocktails all on a gorgeous terrace that overlooks the river, The Magick Bar is a great place to start your night out in Rome.
Given the open-air nature of the Magick Bar, you can enjoy the weather throughout your stay. You might also be able to see a starry sky. The tropical foliage acting as a ceiling in some places just really makes it a magical place to start your nights!l
8. Micca Club
Micca Club is Italy's first-ever burlesque club! With traditional green booth seats, glass dance floors, and neon colors waving around, it can trip you a little bit. Personally, I felt like I was on a movie set myself!
If you're looking for something a little different, I highly recommend heading over either for or before dinner for a jaw-dropping show. You'll have to pay the ticket price, but hey, it comes with a free drink!
7. Jerry Thomas Speakeasy
Many people call the Jerry Thomas Speakeasy Rome's best-kept secret. This club comes with no neon signs or entrances… You'll just have to know where you're going and find out the secret entry code ahead of time.
This is where I tell you to make Roman friends around you because they probably know how to take you into the wildest spots of the city with ease.
Once you're in the club, you'll have some of the best cocktails and meet the coolest people, all while feeling like you've stepped back in time.
6. Alcazar Live
Art exhibitions, jam sessions, open mics, and funk bands fill this old cinema with life. The venue is super interesting all on its own, but you'll also love the art and the many hip artists who frequent Alcazar Live.
5. Circolo Degli Illuminati
This seriously cool hotspot has not one but several different rooms that all host different DJs where the music can vary from deep house, techno, hip hop, commercial house, and so much more.
Make sure you stop by on Saturday for their famous party Minù to see the city's best techno & electro DJs.
4. Drink Kong
If you're looking for a bar on the more luxurious side with a great ambiance and delicious cocktails, Drink Kong is for you!
I would recommend heading here for dinner. I don't have any reasons to gatekeep delicious meals from you anyways! Or if you've already eaten someplace else, you can come here for after-dinner drinks.
3. Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà
If you're thinking the name of this place sounds a little funny, you're not alone. The name translates to "What the hell are you doing here?" but there are many reasons why you'd wanna touch down on it!
Almost like Rome's version of a dive bar, Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà is an unmissable spot for those on a budget. But, if you're a big fan of rowdy crowds, cheap beer, and fun like no other place, this is also the spot for you!
2. Room 26
Room 26 is the ideal nightclub, and let me explain why…
The bar comes with two rooms, one with electronic music and one with old-school hits from the 90s and 2000s. Big win for us choosy music lovers!
And if you want to splash out, you can opt for a VIP table with bottle service for you and your friends. With private seating arrangements, personal servers, and an intimate setting, it's great for when you're looking for some alone time with your group or partner.
1. Voodoo Bar
Last but not least, Voodoo Bar may be my personal favorite, as it has a bit of everything! A beautiful terrace with delicious sushi and cocktails at the beginning of the night, and live music or DJs when the party really starts.
With free entry, there's no reason not to stop by!
Getting Home From the Party in Rome
Worried about safely getting home in the early hours from Rome's hottest nightclubs? Let me give you some first-hand advice on keeping your group safe from everything!
While the parties in Rome can be found in almost every neighborhood, most of the action is centralized around the city's historic center. You can book yourself a hotel nearby those regions to stay close to the party scene.
Keep in mind, there are also many beautiful places to stay in Rome.
Now if you hit up a spot in a different area, there are plenty of ways to safely get home at the end of the night.
While Rome is considered a safe city, I don't recommend walking home late at night for more than a few blocks, especially by yourself or if you've had a few drinks.
Instead, you can take the local transport as it runs until 5:30 AM and leaves every 30 minutes from most stops. Or, you can always jump in a taxi as they're usually waiting outside the popular clubs to take the party-goers home.
