Everyone knows Seattle for many different things. The most important one for people like you and me is that it’s a city of excellent coworking spaces. Small businesses, freelancers, and digital nomads often can’t afford their own office. And some don’t want to commit to a long-term contract.

As a digital nomad myself, I came to appreciate coworking spaces a lot. They gave me the flexibility to not stay in one place too long. They offer amenities you don’t find in your average hostel, hotel, or bed & breakfast.

In this article, I’ll talk about 5 of Seattle’s most popular coworking spaces. Before committing to a membership, you should know what they offer and who would enjoy using them most! As a bonus, I also dug out some free coworking spaces for you if you’d like that better!

If you have yet to experience with coworking spaces, you may wonder why you should use them. Many digital nomads opt to work in cafes, libraries, or your hostel’s common room if you’re traveling. Or maybe you’re stuck at the small desk in your hotel!

Seattle is home to many excellent hostels for travelers, but these don’t compete with what coworking spaces offer. 

Working in libraries often worked better for me. But I have to admit that discovering coworking spaces helped my productivity. And that could be the case for you too!

5. WeWork - Created For Digital Nomads

WeWork AllAccess is one of the better choices you can make in coworking spaces and comes with two memberships—basic and plus. The basic plan gives you access to over 180 coworking spaces and some limited benefits.

On the other hand, if you pay for plus membership, you get access to over 500 coworking spaces worldwide, even in Europe! Plus, you get some super sweet extra perks I wouldn’t like to give up.

If you don’t need that much access and only a few hours per week, WeWork On Demand is a better option. It’s pay-as-you-go for coworking spaces. The basic math is if you use WeWork less than 4 times per month, WeWork On Demand is the more affordable option.

Seattle is dotted with WeWork coworking spaces, but my personal favorite is Hawk Tower on South King Street.

Choosing between WeWork’s Hawk Tower and Cloudroom Seattle is difficult. They both offer so much, I’m almost bringing them to a tie at this point… 

Cloudroom also has coworking spaces in other locations, including Europe. This makes it the perfect choice for digital nomads who also plan to travel to Europe. Cloudroom adds some cool extras to the usual coworking space experience that other coworking spaces haven’t. 

Think astrology readings and yoga sessions to bring you inner peace. 

You can access the Cloudroom Bar and a monthly bar tap as a member. That’s on top of complimentary espresso, Kombucha, and snacks. Yep, you read all of that right but feel free to double-check!

What Do Coworking Spaces in Seattle Cost?

I won’t deny that this is perhaps the biggest question most people have on their minds. But I didn’t put a price for each coworking space because they change quicker than Seattle’s weather. 

Plus, there are many different pricing plans to suit everyone’s needs. But don’t think we’re not discussing prices because I researched the averages of each pricing plan. 

Here’s what you can expect to pay for coworking spaces in Seattle, at least at the time of writing this article:

• Expect to pay $20-$45 daily for drop-in coworking spaces. I found $35 to be a very common fee.
• Limited access monthly fees can range from $60 to $700, and you’ll have your own office room. But you’ll be looking at having that space for yourself for half a week at most. 
• If you want a monthly membership with regular access to a coworking space, expect to pay between $350-$450 or more. The price depends on the extras you want in your plan.

Are There Free Coworking Spaces in Seattle?

The bad news is that you won’t find a coworking space in Seattle that lets you use it for free indefinitely. The good news is you can get some free days here and there—and sometimes that’s all a digital nomad needs.

Some coworking spaces offer free trials like Collective Chemistry. If you send them your details, Working Horse offers you one free day pass. But once that ends, you’ll have to pay to keep using the space. 

Most coworking spaces let you book a tour, so you can look around and see whether the space suits you. Of course, it’s not an issue if you only stay in Seattle for a week anyway!

If you can’t find a free coworking spot in Seattle when you need it, you could do what I often love to do. Go to a public library and work there. Being surrounded by books is quite inspiring, and I have done some of my best work in a library. 

You’ll get internet access and peace, and you can usually print whatever you want for a small fee!
