lululemon Dance Studio Joggers for a roadtrip? Here's my honest thoughts on them!

I'm always on the hunt for a pair of joggers that are both affordable and durable for my next trip.

What I used to consider expensive is now pretty reasonable. Especially if you're buying it with the intention of using it long-term.

So that's why I turned to lululemon to find my next pair of comfortable pants. I wanted something versatile so I could wear it dancing, hiking, traveling or even casually on a day out.

Eventually, after sifting through reviews online and checking out products in store, I landed on the Dance Studio Joggers. And as an avid traveler, it only took me a week to try them out on a road trip from BC to Alberta.

But if you've missed out on this wildly popular brand, let me give you a quick introduction. lululemon is widely recognized for its signature yoga-inspired clothing, which combines fashion-forward designs with technical fabrics and quality craftsmanship.

The company's product lineup includes a wide range of activewear, such as leggings, sports bras, tank tops, shorts, hoodies, and jackets, designed to support various physical activities like yoga, running, training, and more.

Founded in 1998, this Canadian, Vancouver-based company has taken the world by storm. You'll now find lululemon globally. And although it started out for women only, the company now also creates equally fantastic finds for men.

Introducing the lululemon Dance Studio Joggers

Joggers are designed to provide comfort, functionality, and a fashionable look, making them suitable for athletic activities and casual wear. lululemon offers a variety of jogger styles to cater to different preferences and needs. These may include variations in length, rise, and detailing.

Among other joggers, I chose the dance studio jogger mainly because of its light and thin fabric for summertime and travel and its reasonable price compared to other lululemon jogger pants

Jogger's Possible Drawbacks

Nothing's perfect, right? Same goes here. Since lululemon obviously doesn't advertise these, I'm writing these based on my personal experience:

• Online-only means it's very hard to try on before you buy to get the exact sizing
• The pants are quite long so if you're short this may not be your jam
• If you don't fit into standardized 2, 4, 6... sizing, then you'll likely have some trouble deciding with these pants
• Can be see through depending on the color you purchase
• They sell out FAST, so it's hard to secure sizing and colors you need and want

Things I Experienced With the Dance Studio Joggers Before Even Getting in the Car

Delivery & Shipping From lululemon: Unbelievably Fast!

I ordered the lululemon joggers and expected to need to wait at least a week.

But nope—the delivery was fast! I was impressed that I received the item in only 3 days. A big plus for me is that the package was simple and minimal. Less waste, to me, is always a positive!

One thing I worry about with the packaging is the big logo printed on the front. This is because the delivery people usually leave parcels at my front door, which means there is a slight chance that someone else might steal it.

Luckily that wasn't the case for me this time.

Dance Studio Joggers Product Sizing: Online-Only Made It Difficult!

Since the Dance Studio Jogger pants are an online-only item, I couldn’t try them before placing an order.

I’ve been reading mixed reviews saying, ‘get one size smaller’ or ‘fit perfectly with one size larger,’ etc.

I am 6’3”, 53kg, and usually wear size 2 leggings and size 4 pants. Which means I had a dilemma. I spent a long time deciding between size-2 and size-4 because I have a thinner upper body, especially the waist, compared to my lower body.

For me, the waist part of most pants, even with waist bandings, runs large. In this case, I also had to consider the jogger pants style.

Basically, it was hard to guess what size would fit me better just based on the reviews.

I even went to a lululemon store to see if they had any other pants that had a similar fit to the Dance Studio Joggers! After trying out a couple of lululemon's pants, I was told that return or exchange process is very simple. So I got both sizes!

These are one of the more popular lululemon pants, so they run out very quickly. Another downer is that the company can't guarantee when they'll be restocked. That's why I decided to get both and just return the one that didn't fit.

Fit: I Still Want a Size ? in My lululemon Pants...

Once they arrived, I unpackaged them and tried both on immediately. Unfortunately, I ran into some disappointment...

Below is the comparison between a size 2, which is the first photo, and a size 4, the bottom photo.

Why was I disappointed? Well, neither fit me exactly the way I wanted them to.

Size 2 fits perfectly in my waist, but the pockets kept opening up as I moved and felt tight on my legs. With 2-way stretch fabric, it felt comfortable but still tight compared to size 4.

I really enjoy the style of these pants and they feel very comfy. I just wish there was size 3, since the smaller size is a tiny bit too tight and then the larger size runs a bit too loose for my liking.

In the end I decided to keep size 4. I felt much more comfortable with this larger size since it fit more relaxed and flexible than the size 2.

It's true that the waist runs large to me—unfortunately, I expected this. But I always believe that pants are better loose than too tight.

I still wish that I could have size 3!

Return Process: Easy, Breezy, Returned!

Returning the size 2 joggers was reasonably straightforward. I had to bring the product with the receipt to get the refund to the original method of payment.

What was great is that I could go and do this in-store, even though the product was an online-only special. This made it much more convenient for me than needing to deal with shipping labels and drop offs to faraway post offices!

When I went into the store, I was surprised to learn that they accept returns without the tags, but that's handy to know for the future. In my return experience, all the associate asked was why I'm returning the item. Generally, it was a very laidback and smooth process throughout.

So, Would I Travel With These lululemon Joggers?

This is when I finally got to take my size 4 lululemon Dance Studio Joggers on a road trip and answer you're burning question: Are they good travel pants. After what I went through with them, I would definitely say a resounding YES!

Why am I so confident? Well, I put these pants through their paces right away. My road trip was to Calgary. And we drove for 13 hours straight and I wore these lululemon pants for the entire time.

The one thing I was worried about was the stretch of these pants... I’ve seen a couple of reviews mentioning the shape retention of the pants, and apparently the knee part stretched easily, even just wearing it for a couple of days. And in their experiences, it didn’t return to its original shape.

I'm unsure how they wore the pants, but the shape retention was terrific based on my experience of driving over 13 hours straight.

I have a couple of other jogger pants, and they all get stretched easily, and usually, the shape only returns to normal if I do laundry.

The Dance Studio Jogger had much better shape retention, to my surprise. Mine returned to their normal shape within a couple of hours.

Another great thing is that I find they dry really quickly after washing them.

These are all the reasons I would definitely recommend these pants for travel. Just a note is that I think these joggers are definitely suited for mild or even warmer temperatures. They likely won't keep you warm enough if you enjoy your winter vacations.

Are the lululemon Dance Studio Joggers Good for Outdoor Activity?

I took a quick hike on the trail during the weekend I was in Calgary as well, and I'd say these are great for any outdoor activity as well.

This isn't a surprise, seeing as lululemon's products are mostly geared towards athletics anyways. But here's more specifics about my experience doing exercise in the Dance Studio Joggers:

I loved the color and they really look fantastic for outdoor activities. I felt cute that day, styling them with my black lululemon sports bra.

This sounds weird but... The part I loved the most was the feeling of the fabric when I sweat. It dried out quickly, and it protected me from getting bug bites when passing through or near the bushes.

Unfortunately my feet weren't as lucky. They got lots of bug bites since I was wearing sandals... Whoops!

But it can't all be rainbow and sunshine right?

One part I didn’t like about them is that the thin fabric sometimes reveals the shape/outline of my underwear. It’s not an issue if you wear lighter underwear like thongs or string panties. I admit those are a regular staple for me when I'm wearing a pair of leggings.

When I wear joggers I prefer to wear more comfortable undies, so I'm just a bit disappointed in this respect.

That being said, I'd still chose these jogger pants as an alternative to my leggings. I would just recommend wearing longer shorts, no-show or thin panties, or even a waist tie to protect your undie outline from being visible when climbing or walking uphill.

Are the lululemon Dance Studio Joggers Worth It?

I would definitely recommend grabbing a pair of these joggers.

After trying out one of lululemon's most popular joggers for a 13-hour road trip and a quick hike, I can safely say these are worth the investment.

Yes, the Dance Studio Joggers come with some drawbacks, like not being able to try them on beforehand or a fit that's not right for everyone. But, I think most people who travel and do lots of outdoor activities while exploring the world will find these joggers comfortable, versatile, and easy-to-travel with.

It's not every day you find pants that pack so many great features into one: Style, quality, versatility, quick dry, sweat wicking, and more!
