What do users say about Pilot (vs. Skyscanner)?

Skyscanner's app rates around 4.8 on Google Play. Worth knowing before you book: because Skyscanner is a search layer that hands you off to an airline or travel agency to complete the booking, anything that goes wrong (a price that climbs at checkout, a change, a refund) bounces back to that third-party site rather than to Skyscanner. With Pilot you book your hotel directly and can reach a real person on our team, and Pilot is rated 4.7 by 50,000+ travelers who point to everything living in one place, planning together without endless text chains, and support that steps in when something goes sideways.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice consolidation tool for travel plan, tickets, etc. Me and my daughter can share a travel plan, and add the whole itinerary, with pre-booked tickets, daily excursion plans, etc. It makes organisation of the trip incredibly easy and all information between travelers are shared
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Went to Amsterdam for the first time. Loved having all the trip details located in one spot on my phone - maps, hotel, air, event tickets. I was able to to go the app and all the QR codes were right there. Also being able to share the app so we could each put in details was a great feature.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
His support was wonderful. Went extra mile to support us and getting us accommodated with the hotel. Really appreciate it. 5 stars service !!

It's a great app. It has almost everything to organise a trip, travel itinerary etc. And surprisingly free. Only thing it lacks and is badly needed is Dark mode. I hope the development team include dark mode soon.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
How disappointed would you be if you could no longer use Pilot?: Very Disappointed. What is the main benefit you get from Pilot?: memory making and planning

The Pilot Customer team is great. We had a minor issue with the hotel, and the Pilot team went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of well.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I travel regularly for both work and for fun, and Pilot really helps me stay organised, ensures I don't miss anything and gives me a constant point of reference to come back to for the various details required both before and during travel. When I'm travelling with friends, being able to invite them into the trip and see all of the details that I would normally have to send to them in a god send! Apart from the practical side, the visual experience is very nice and adds a great touch to trip planning.

Common questions about Pilot vs. Skyscanner

What is Skyscanner?

Skyscanner is a flight, hotel, and car price comparison site used to find a deal. It compares prices and sends you to another site to book, rather than booking directly or planning the trip.

What is Pilot?

Pilot is a trip booking and planning app where you plan the whole trip and book your hotel at private rates, the kind usually reserved for travel agents. Where Skyscanner sends you elsewhere to book, Pilot books your hotel directly into your plan.

Is Skyscanner legit and safe to use?

Yes, Skyscanner is a legitimate comparison site from 2003, but as metasearch it sends you off to book, so a price climb or refund is handled by that third party. Pilot books your hotel directly at a private rate, with real support if anything breaks.

Is Skyscanner free, and how does Skyscanner make money?

Skyscanner is free and earns commission sending you off to book, and it sells sponsored placement, so the top result is not always best. Pilot is also free because it earns from hotels when you book, never sells placement, and ranks results for you.

Can you book hotels on Skyscanner?

Skyscanner compares hotel prices alongside flights but is a comparison layer that sends you to another site to book, so it does not book the hotel itself. Pilot books over 3,000,000 hotels directly at private rates, though for flights and cars Skyscanner compares more inventory.

How does Skyscanner work?

You enter your destination and dates, and Skyscanner searches airlines and agencies, then forwards you off to book, so support and changes happen there. Pilot covers the rest, planning the trip with a flexible itinerary, map, and group, and booking your hotel directly.

Is Skyscanner worth it, or is Pilot better?

If you only need to compare flight or car prices across sites, Skyscanner is built for that, and Pilot does not compete there. For a whole trip Pilot does more, keeping the itinerary, map, and group together and booking your hotel at private rates.

Does Pilot compare flight prices like Skyscanner?

Not the way Skyscanner does: Pilot surfaces flight deals and links you out to book, but does not compare prices across airlines, so Skyscanner still has a role. Pilot focuses on the rest, planning the itinerary and booking your hotel at private rates.

Skyscanner vs Pilot: which should I use?

Use Skyscanner if your task is narrow: compare flight and car prices, then book on whichever site you land on. Use Pilot to plan and book the trip itself, with a flexible itinerary, map, and group, plus your hotel at a private rate, free.

Plan your next trip with Pilot

Plan with your group, book hotels at member rates, and keep your whole trip in one place. Completely free.
