⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice consolidation tool for travel plan, tickets, etc. Me and my daughter can share a travel plan, and add the whole itinerary, with pre-booked tickets, daily excursion plans, etc. It makes organisation of the trip incredibly easy and all information between travelers are shared
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Went to Amsterdam for the first time. Loved having all the trip details located in one spot on my phone - maps, hotel, air, event tickets. I was able to to go the app and all the QR codes were right there. Also being able to share the app so we could each put in details was a great feature.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
His support was wonderful. Went extra mile to support us and getting us accommodated with the hotel. Really appreciate it. 5 stars service !!

It's a great app. It has almost everything to organise a trip, travel itinerary etc. And surprisingly free. Only thing it lacks and is badly needed is Dark mode. I hope the development team include dark mode soon.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
How disappointed would you be if you could no longer use Pilot?: Very Disappointed. What is the main benefit you get from Pilot?: memory making and planning

The Pilot Customer team is great. We had a minor issue with the hotel, and the Pilot team went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of well.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I travel regularly for both work and for fun, and Pilot really helps me stay organised, ensures I don't miss anything and gives me a constant point of reference to come back to for the various details required both before and during travel. When I'm travelling with friends, being able to invite them into the trip and see all of the details that I would normally have to send to them in a god send! Apart from the practical side, the visual experience is very nice and adds a great touch to trip planning.

Common questions about Pilot vs. Hostelworld

What is Hostelworld?

Hostelworld is a hostel booking site for booking hostels and dorm beds, with a social layer for solo travelers. It focuses on booking the bed rather than planning the trip around it.

What is Pilot?

Pilot is a trip booking and planning app: a flexible itinerary, a map, notes, and your group, plus your hotel booked at private rates straight from hotels. Where Hostelworld books the bed, Pilot has a real person confirm each booking and plans the trip.

Is Pilot a good Hostelworld alternative?

Yes, Pilot books your stay at private rates straight from hotels, with no sponsored results and real support, where Hostelworld holds your booking with a non-refundable deposit and fee. The caveat: Hostelworld specializes in hostels and dorm beds, so for that it has a role.

Is Hostelworld legit?

Yes, Hostelworld is a real hostel booking site, founded in 1999, rated 4.5 on Trustpilot across roughly 21,000 reviews, though it holds your booking with a non-refundable deposit plus a fee travelers regularly flag. Pilot is also legitimate, booking your stay at a private rate.

Is Hostelworld free?

Hostelworld is free to download and browse, but booking takes a non-refundable deposit, usually a percentage of the total, plus a booking fee. Pilot is free to use, plan, and book, earning from hotels rather than charging you, with your stay at a private rate.

How does Hostelworld make money?

Hostelworld earns from the booking fee it adds at checkout, from commissions, and from promoted placement it sells properties, so the top result isn't always the best deal. Pilot earns from hotels when you book and doesn't sell placement, so results are ranked for you.

Can you book hotels on Hostelworld?

Hostelworld carries some private rooms and budget hotels, but its inventory is built around hostels and dorm beds rather than the full range. Pilot lets you book over 3,000,000 hotels right in the app at private rates straight from hotels, alongside your trip.

Does Hostelworld charge a deposit or booking fee?

Yes, Hostelworld typically holds your reservation with a non-refundable deposit plus a booking fee, and travelers who cancel often can't get it back, one of the most common complaints. Pilot books your stay at a private rate straight from the hotel, with no sponsored results.
