⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice consolidation tool for travel plan, tickets, etc. Me and my daughter can share a travel plan, and add the whole itinerary, with pre-booked tickets, daily excursion plans, etc. It makes organisation of the trip incredibly easy and all information between travelers are shared
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Went to Amsterdam for the first time. Loved having all the trip details located in one spot on my phone - maps, hotel, air, event tickets. I was able to to go the app and all the QR codes were right there. Also being able to share the app so we could each put in details was a great feature.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
His support was wonderful. Went extra mile to support us and getting us accommodated with the hotel. Really appreciate it. 5 stars service !!

It's a great app. It has almost everything to organise a trip, travel itinerary etc. And surprisingly free. Only thing it lacks and is badly needed is Dark mode. I hope the development team include dark mode soon.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
How disappointed would you be if you could no longer use Pilot?: Very Disappointed. What is the main benefit you get from Pilot?: memory making and planning

The Pilot Customer team is great. We had a minor issue with the hotel, and the Pilot team went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of well.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I travel regularly for both work and for fun, and Pilot really helps me stay organised, ensures I don't miss anything and gives me a constant point of reference to come back to for the various details required both before and during travel. When I'm travelling with friends, being able to invite them into the trip and see all of the details that I would normally have to send to them in a god send! Apart from the practical side, the visual experience is very nice and adds a great touch to trip planning.

Common questions about Pilot vs. Vrbo

What is Vrbo?

Vrbo is a vacation home rental site, used to book whole homes, cabins, and condos for families and groups. It books a rental through Expedia Group rather than planning the trip, and it lists homes rather than the hotels Pilot books.

What is Pilot?

Pilot is a trip booking and planning app: a flexible itinerary, a map, notes, and your group in one place. Where Vrbo books a rental, Pilot plans the whole trip around the stay and books your hotel at private rates straight from hotels.

Is Pilot a good Vrbo alternative?

Yes, with one caveat: Pilot books hotels at private rates straight from hotels with no sponsored results and real support, and plans the whole trip too. Vrbo lists whole-home rentals, so if you need an entire house for a group it still has a role.

Is Vrbo legit and safe to use?

Yes, Vrbo is an Expedia Group marketplace operating since 1995, though its Trustpilot sits around 1.2 with complaints about checkout service fees, refund delays, and slow support. Pilot books your stay at a private rate straight from the hotel, with real people reachable in chat.

Is Vrbo free to use?

Vrbo is free to browse, but you pay a service fee on top of the nightly and cleaning fee, added at checkout rather than up front. Pilot is completely free to plan with, and your stay comes at a private rate straight from the hotel.

How does Vrbo make money?

Vrbo earns a host commission plus a service fee at checkout, and sells promoted placement so some properties rank higher, so the top result is not always the best deal. Pilot earns from hotels when you book and sells no placement, ranking results for you.

Can you book hotels on Vrbo?

Mostly not, Vrbo is built for whole-home rentals and only lists limited hotel inventory since folding into Expedia Group. Pilot is hotel-first: you book over 3,000,000 hotels at private rates straight from hotels, saved with the rest of your trip.

Does Pilot help with group trips like Vrbo?

Yes, and further than Vrbo's Trip Boards, which only let groups save properties and react with hearts and polls. Pilot makes the whole trip collaborative: invite everyone into one shared trip, plan together in real time, vote, chat, then book the hotel right there, free.

Pilot vs Vrbo: which should I use?

Use Pilot to plan a trip and book the stay: private rates straight from hotels, real human support, and your whole itinerary, group, and booking in one place, free. Choose Vrbo if you specifically need to rent an entire house for a large group.

Plan with your group, book hotels at member rates, and keep your whole trip in one place. Completely free.
