Planning an epic road trip is a heck of a job, requiring weeks of planning, food supplies, first-aid kits, and, most importantly, a first-class vehicle. Taking your own car on a long road trip might not be the best idea. I suggest renting a camper van for a comfortable journey with the memories of a lifetime.

Now you must be thinking, “How will I find a camper van?” Well, I’m glad you asked. With Roadsurfer, you don’t have to worry about where and how to rent Class B camper vans.

Whether you’re a frequent road tripper or planning your first road adventure, this Roadsurfer review will tell you whether it’s a good company to rent from if you’re looking for a camper van in USA or Europe.

What Is Roadsurfer?

Roadsurfer is a German camper van rental company that offers a large variety of modern recreational vehicles for avid travelers across nearly 10 countries.

It was established in 2016 by a bunch of travel buddies, but it soon expanded its camper rental operations throughout Europe and recently to Los Angeles as well.

With Roadsurfer, you can discover some of the most remote and stunning places in Europe and the USA via the road with home-life comfort. You can choose from a large fleet of well-equipped Class B RV rental options with different styles, sizes, and models.

So why choose Roadsurfer? Other similar companies are out there, such as RVshare or Wicked Campers. I’ve got all the info about Roadsurfer you’ll need to be able to make an informed decision you’ll be happy with! Start taking notes.

Types of Camper Vans Roadsurfer Offers

Roadsurfer has a large fleet of motorhomes and camper vans in Europe with 12 different types ranging from Surfer Suites, Camper Cabin, Road House, Family Finca, Couple Condo, Camper Castle, and many more.

These RV rentals have facilities like indoor/outdoor showers, air conditioners, solar panels, kitchenettes, pop-up roofs, cameras, and park assist.

However, Roadsurfer has only two RV models in the USA. The first is the Couple Condo which costs $155 USD and comes with a spacious kitchen, a toilet, and many outstanding features. The second is Road House XL which costs $165 USD and has more capacity.

How to Rent a Class B RV Rental

Recreational vehicles (RVs) come in three different types, and among those types, Class B RVs are the smallest and easiest ones in terms of driving and parking. In addition to a large selection of Class B camper vans, Roadsurfer offers Class B motorhomes for rent.

Made up your mind for the next big road trip? If yes, here is how you can rent a camper van with Roadsurfer:

  • Go to the Roadsurfer website and choose the location and currency from the top. You can choose Europe or USA and the corresponding currency.
  • Scroll down to the list of available rental vans and pick the one that suits you the best.
  • Enter the number of days by selecting the pickup and return dates for your camper van rental in Los Angeles and hit “Book now.”
  • Make a custom selection by adding camping facilities and equipment offered by Roadsurfer, such as bike racks, chairs, etc., and choosing the right pricing package.
  • Fill in your personal details and payment info to confirm your camper van booking from Roadsurfer USA.
  • Pick up the RV rental on your booking start date at the given location and hit the road with style.
  • Return the camper van to the designated location at the end of your memorable road ventures.

Canceling Your Booking

In case something comes up that puts your road adventures to a halt, you can always cancel and rebook your camper rental.

There is no charge if you cancel within 60 days before your rental starting date. However, canceling in less than 60 days cost you 50% of your booking price, and you get a voucher for the remaining 50%.

What People Are Saying

The Roadsurfer website itself doesn’t display or promote any reviews from users, making it tricky to get a real-life account of these RV rentals.

Roadsurfer reviews from around the web show mixed results. Some customers are happy with their experience, while others had issues with customer service or certain features of the RV not working, like the stove or heater.

Benefits

Fully-Equipped Camper Vans: Any Class B RV rental you book from Roadsrufer has everything you need for a relaxed, long road trip and camping experience with your best people.

No Mileage Limit: Roadsurfer offers unlimited mileage for its camper vans, meaning you can drive as far as the road takes you as long as you return it on time.

Roadside Assistance: Roadsurfer doesn’t abandon you in the wilderness in case of emergencies with its 24/7 roadside assistance.

Personalized RV Rentals: Based on your plan and the number of passengers, you can personalize your Class B RV rental with additional features like camping equipment, bedding, bike racks, etc.

Multiple Pickup & Drop-off Locations: Roadsurfer has pickup and drop-off locations in different European and US cities.

Drawbacks

Cost: Roadsurfer has higher prices for its Class B camper vans and motorhomes, which become even more expensive in the busy travel season.

Rigid Cancellation Policy: Even if you cancel 59 days before your start day, you will be charged 50% of your total price, which is pretty inflexible for a cancellation policy.

Limited Availability: During the peak travel months, you cannot find many RV rental options on Roadsurfer because of limited vehicles.

Maintenance and Upkeep: Driving and maintaining the good condition of Roadsurfer’s RV camper vans is difficult, and you will be charged for any damages.

Is Roadsurfer Worth It?

A Roadsurfer camper van is worth it if you have a decent traveling budget, excellent company or traveling buddies, and the necessary driving skills to handle a Class B RV rental.

Suppose you’re traveling solo, on a tight budget, or don’t feel comfortable behind the wheel of such a large vehicle. In that case, there probably isn’t a lot to gain from renting a Roadsurfer camper van.

Our Rating: 4.1/5

  • Unlimited mileage
  • Emergency assistance
  • Custom rentals
