Have you ever felt the need to take a nap during the day or just find somewhere to rest up? You're most definitely not alone.

Whether it's being tired after a long drive or arriving during the day from a red-eye flight, it's often tricky to find affordable places to stay and rest up. Most accommodations charge by night and are often expensive if you plan to stay for a few hours.

If you've been in that situation, you're probably excited to see how this service matches up to your expectations.

With Hotels By Day, you can now enjoy a luxurious hotel day stay without paying for their overnight rate. But are they really necessary? Keep reading to find out!

Why Book Hotels by the Hour?

Why is this service so important these days?

In a world where travel is fast-paced, people need more and more convenient places to stay. The problem with many hotels is that their rooms are often expensive, and that's because hoteliers charge their customers for a whole overnight stay. The people behind Hotels By Day thought this was a problem that needed addressing.

There are also around 2 million empty hotel rooms each day. That's a 5 billion dollar market opportunity that's not being used wisely.

So, is Hotels By Day a service you should consider using the next time you need somewhere to stay and rest up for a couple of hours? Keep reading to find out more about them so you can decide for yourself.

What Is Hotels By Day?

Hotels By Day is a service where customers can book single-day stays in hotel rooms. When you use your location with their mobile app, you can get suggestions of hotels nearest to your area along with prices for bookings.

The best thing about this is that renters can get full access to the hotel's amenities, including its pool, gym, etc. Whether you're staying at the hotel for a daycation or simply visiting the city for a day, daytime hotel bookings make traveling a lot more convenient in cities around the globe.

Most hotels these days do not make full use of their rooms. Instead of getting zero income from these rooms, through Hotels By Day, hoteliers can have these rooms reserved and earn from hourly rates.

Hotels By Day was founded by Yannis Moati, a former tour guide born in Tunisia who spent most of his career doing guided tours in Europe. The startup is currently based in New York and launched in 2015.

Before he founded Hotels By Day, he worked on a worldwide travel agency. He worked as director for another travel company based in New York. Yannis Moati won the prestigious American Society of Travel Advisors award.

How To Use Hotels By Day

Hotels By Day is very easy to use, and guests can first pick the hotel and location where they wish to stay.

Once you book a place, you can choose a room for a day getaway or business purposes. This feature is quite similar to French-based company Day Use, which we've also reviewed. If you want to compare the two services, be sure to check them out too!

Most of the hotels they include on their site are above three-star ratings. Hotels don't charge over $150 for a day's stay. All bookings should be made through credit card, and the guests will only be charged after they arrive at the hotel. There are also cancellation options for specific bookings.

What We Liked About Hotels By Day

Affordable Dayrooms

Most hotel day rates are 40-60% cheaper than night stay rates. This allows you to save money while enjoying the luxury and comfort of the hotel of your choice.

There are also no commitments to stay overnight, and in fact, they offer same-day cancellations for bookings too! Plus, customers can use the necessities provided by the hotels, even if they aren't spending the night. Spa and pool time anyone?

Also, you don't need to scour the internet for better rates for luxury hotels. Hotels By Day is already offering their best day rates for you.

Flexible Check-ins

What if you have a layover of a couple of hours? Wouldn't it be nice to stay in a hotel than hang around the airport?

With Hotels By Day, you can book at the last minute of the day or have an early check-in. Whatever works for you, Hotels By Day can find you a room in the city of your choice. They have options for rooms and prices too. If you want to pay less, you can choose non-refundable bookings, or if you're willing to pay more, you can opt for their cancel-anytime bookings.

Daycations

You don't need to travel far to experience that fun holiday feeling.

Thanks to Hotels By Day, you can now enjoy a hotel stay complete with a gym pass, buffet breakfast, and more—even just for a few hours. With Hotels by Day, families who don't have the budget to travel far can now enjoy daycations in their city. They can use this service to have a day of fun at the hotel pool or get spa and massage treatments.

Honest Hotel Daytime Ratings

Hotels By Day allows guests to leave ratings for the hotels they stayed. This feature is an excellent way for hotel renters, specifically those who have stayed during the day, to compare hotels and find the best places to stay in the city. Rating hotels is also easy with their app, which is available for iOS and Android users.

Remote Work and Business Purposes

The privateness and quiet of a hotel room are great for getting things done. That's why many customers of daytime hotels are remote workers and business people. Hotels By Day users can have a distraction-free zone to focus on work or hold important and private business meetings.

What We Didn't Like About Hotels By Day

The only downside of the service is its limited number of hotels in each city and region. Don't expect every hotel in town to have a dayroom available from Hotels By Day. Hotels By Day currently has hundreds of partner hotels in the U.S, Canada, and Europe. They're also adding five new hotels each week. Although Hotels By Day are currently not offered in Asia or Africa, they might expand to those regions soon!

Should You Use Hotels By Day?

If you're a frequent traveler, Hotels By Day is the great app for finding cheap yet decent hotel accommodations in various cities around the globe. Companies like Hotels By Day that are changing the way people travel are making our world a better place.

We understand that Hotels By Day isn't a service for everyone. However, it's an excellent service for those who need a place to stay during the day or conduct business.

Our Rating: 4.4/5

Pros:

  • Easy to use mobile app & website
  • Affordable day-rooms
  • Flexible check-ins & cancellation
  • Offers honest hotel reviews from real guests
  • Great for remote work & private business meetings
