Booking a hotel room online has never been easier, and travelers have never had more options. You can compare pictures, amenities, and room rates in minutes to find the perfect stay!

Does it even matter which online travel agency website you choose?

Is there an advantage to Hotelscan.com?

In this review, I'll look at how Hotelscan.com stacks up against its biggest competitors so you can choose the best platform for picking a hotel room on a budget.

What Is Hotelscan.com?

Hotelscan.com is a website where you can search through thousands of listings to find the perfect hotel for your stay.

It has a powerful search engine that allows you to select accommodations in your price range, with all of the amenities you need and pictures to help you decide.

There are dozens of websites like this, right? What makes Hotelscan.com different?

Expedia.com, Hotels.com, and Booking.com are called "Online Travel Agents" (OTAs). They connect travelers with hotels. This service is free to you, but the hotel pays a small commission. When you book a room on Expedia, you pay Expedia, and they deal with the hotel.

Hotelscan.com is a little bit different... it's a hotel metasearch engine.

Hotelscan.com doesn't take payment or deal with hotels directly.

Instead, it gathers all of the search results from the OTA websites and shows them side-by-side. That way, you can search all OTAs—including Expedia, Booking.com, Hotels.com, KAYAK, and dozens more, to compare and get the best rates.

With a hotel metasearch tool like Hotelscan.com, you have way more options to choose from.

It's still free to use and includes powerful search options. Because it casts a broader net and brings in more options, Hotelscan.com makes it easier to find the lowest rate for the best hotels.

How to Use It to Book a Hotel

All you need to get started is your travel dates and your destination!

  1. Go to Hotelscan.com and fill in the form to search
  2. Apply filters like price, accommodation type, or amenities
  3. Look through the list to find a hotel you're interested in
  4. When you find it, click on the link to go to the partner OTA website
  5. Book your hotel through the OTA

Hotelscan.com doesn't handle the booking details. You'll do that through the partner website, like Expedia or Booking.com.

Features

There is much to love about this website, even beyond its effective service.

Easy-to-Use

Hotelscan.com couldn't be more user-friendly!

All you need to do is type in your destination and dates, and you'll find many options. Comparing prices and amenities is intuitive.

It's easy to book a hotel room, even in a rush when you haven't used the website before.

Great Interface

The website looks nice, and despite providing considerably large amounts of information, it doesn't seem busy or overcrowded.

More Options to Choose From

As a metasearch tool, Hotelscan.com pulls listings from dozens of OTAs to help you compare rates. This is really where it shines.

Hotelscan says the average online booking website has about 100,000 - 200,000 hotels. Hotelscan.com has up to 30x more listings, with over 3 million hotels.

Find Accommodations with the Map

This is a feature that users love.

Suppose you know where you want to stay physically, for example, downtown or close to a conference you're attending. In that case, you can see all the hotels on a map and choose the one with the best location.

Cancellation and Refund Policies

Since Hotelscan.com doesn't take payment, they have no cancellation or refund policy.

Instead, you'll have to deal with whichever OTA partner you are redirected to.

If you choose a hotel on Hotelscan.com, you'll book it on another website. This website, usually an OTA like Agoda or Booking.com, will apply its own cancellation or refund policy. Look at the fine print before you book anything.

Suppose you want to be able to cancel for free. In that case, you can check a box in the search results that will filter and display only hotels and accommodations with a free cancellation policy.

Benefits and Drawbacks

This tool is excellent for finding the lowest hotel room and accommodation prices.

Because it casts the broadest net possible, searching through databases from the largest OTAs in the world, it has more power than other sites to deliver the lowest rates.

The only drawback of Hotelscan.com is that it isn't an OTA. Instead, it's a metasearch engine.

That means that while Hotelscan.com can bring you the best listings, you must go through another website to book your accommodations. Hotelscan.com is not responsible for your bookings, just like Google is not responsible for the websites you visit.

If this indirectness bothers you, you may want to use another website!

Is Hotelscan.com Worth It?

There are very few downsides to using Hotelscan.com, so you should make it part of the websites you visit to compare the best prices.

It costs nothing and returns thousands of listings, giving you the best selection. People who use Hotelscan.com save an average of 35% over direct booking.

Other hotel and accommodation metasearch engines are out there, including TripAdvisor and Trivago. These have similar features and deliver comparable results.

With a 98% positive rating and lots of positive reviews, people love Hotelscan. I recommend it if you're looking to find the best deals on a hotel room.

My Rating: 4.1/5

Pros:

  • Tons of hotel listings to choose from
  • Easy and intuitive interface
  • Choose accommodations on a map

Cons:

  • 3rd Party Website
  • Competitors Offer Similar Service

Save You Money On Your Next Booking

With more listings to compare, you can find better deals using a metasearch engine like Hotelscan.com than on OTAs like Expedia.

Although similar websites do the same thing, Hotelscan.com is competitive with all of them. It has a great design, is easy to use, and delivers the results you're looking for: the best room at the lowest price.
