Ah, summer. That time when I want to hit up the beach and get that tan, or stay up late and do a marathon of my favorite TV series.
It's the season everyone's looking forward to so we can finally get out of the hibernation mode we've all been in since winter. Let's face it, being in thick, puffy jackets and sweaters all the time can get a bit boring! Even if I do pull it off well.
Spending your summer going on an epic adventure is fantastic, but if you want to try something different this year, check out a music festival with some Lollapalooza vibes. I'm talking about the biggest names in rap and hip-hop, must cop merch, the coolest pop-ups, the yummiest food, and more.
Sounds like a whole lot of fun, right? This is Rolling Loud Festival!
In this blog, I'm going to tell you how to snag a ticket, what to expect, what to bring, and more so you have the best time at Rolling Loud, keep reading!
What Is Rolling Loud?
Starting in 2015 in Miami, this festival has since become one of the biggest and most awaited events in the rap and hip-hop scene. It has also expanded from its home court to different countries around the globe. So if you're not based in the US, you can probably find one closer to you!
I've found all my favorite rap and hip-hop artists have at least graced the stages of Rolling Loud once— from Kendrick Lamar to Travis Scott, Schoolboy Q, A$AP Ferg, and Lil Uzi Vert! I'm telling you it's unreal! The festival's yearly lineup never disappoints and keeps people coming back for more.
Aside from getting the chance to listen to good tunes, I love that there's still so much going on within the typical 2-day festival that you can explore. Among those are exclusive brand launches like the BBC ICECREAM line of apparel and NBA 2k Pop-Up which took the Rolling Loud 2021 event to a whole new level.
When Is Rolling Loud 2023?
Back when it started, the first Rolling Loud feast was a one-day event in Miami in February. They added another day the following year and moved the event to May. The succeeding years had additional locations. More dates were added which they scheduled in May, July, September, October, and December.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, some events were rescheduled and canceled. A case in point is the pandemic which hit its peak in 2020 and 2021 (postponing Miami and Portugal), as well as the Hong Kong riots of 2019.
This year, I was pump to see the festival franchise has announced its comeback on the following dates:
- Rolling Loud Portugal: July 5-7, 2023
- Rolling Loud California: March 3-5, 2023
- Rolling Loud Thailand: April 13-15, 2023
Where Is Rolling Loud Located?
I'm pretty sure the Rolling Loud team knows how much everyone missed partying. So this year, they decided to go all-out by bringing the fun all across the globe!
Although many of the venues are still waiting to be announced, Rolling Loud California will take place at a new venue, Hollywood Park. Next to So-Fi Stadium this location choice was absolutely epic!

Where to Stay for Rolling Loud 2023?
No one wants to miss out on all that's happening at the festival grounds. But let's face it, staying there the whole day can get pretty tiring. If it's your first event, don't feel any shame about having to go get some rest.
My personal take - it's a must to have your accommodation settled days before the actual event. It will allow you to get plenty of rest before all the partying you'll be doing for 3 days.
As more international venues are announced, I'll give you an idea of what happened last year:
Miami, New York, and Toronto set up a section on their website where you can check out the closest hotels. You'll also see their availability and prices for the nights you'll be staying near the venue.
For Portugal, there are plenty of accommodations available as its location is a popular tourist area.
Does Rolling Loud Have an Age Limit?
Unfortunately for the younger fans, you might have to wait a little longer before you can join in on the fun. They require the attendees to be at least 16 years old to get into the general admissions area and at least 18 (or 19 in Canada) to enjoy the VIP section.
Rolling Loud 2023 Lineup
When the 2023 lineup was announced, I could not be more excited. Here are some of my personal favorites taking the stage this year:
Rolling Loud 2023 Miami
- Travis Scott
- A$AP Rocky
- Lil Uzi Vert
- Kodak Black
- Lil Yachty
- Ice Spice
- Rae Sremmurd
- Playboi Carti
- 21 Savage
Tips and Tricks for Rolling Loud!
Stay Hydrated and Eat Before Going
With every festival you'll be attending, I think it's a good rule of thumb is to fill up before going. Food at the venue can be quite pricey. Also, don't forget to bring water with you since I'll tell you know, it will get pretty hot in there.
Dress Trendy Yet Comfy
Look I'm all about the glow up, but make sure you're not compromising your comfort either. You'll probably be standing most of the time, so choosing a good pair of shoes that won't hurt your feet is key. You also have to be ready in case it gets too hot or too chilly at the venue.
Bring a Fanny Pack
This is fast becoming the must-have for me when going to festivals or concerts. It makes bringing my essentials both hassle and hands-free. Not to mention, fanny packs, if you do it right, can elevate your style to a whole new level.
Take the Shuttle or Other Ridesharing Services
Some Rolling Loud venues offer shuttle services to and from the festival grounds. You can also opt for Uber or Lyft sharing so you can save up on fares. I found it is a great way to meet other concertgoers and have a large group to party with while you're there.
Get to the Venue Early
I'm not exaggerating when we say it's a huge party. And that also means tons of people are trying to get there just as you are. To avoid missing out on your favorite artist, try making it to the venue at least 2-3 hours earlier.
Check the Distance of the Venue to Your Accommodation Before Booking
Make sure you pick accommodation that will make it easier for you to access attending the fest. Although it might not be easy to score ones that are a few steps away from the venue, at least pick one that's only a few minutes away. Or have a plan to walk a few blocks away to avoid the ride share madness that happens when an event ends.
Lastly, Have Fun!
These events only come by once a year, so don't forget to relax, have fun, and just let yourself be carried away by the music and the vibe.
