I'm sure we can all agree that Europe knows how to throw parties? From the classic Running of the Bulls Festival in Spain to the cool beats of the Rolling Loud Festival in Portugal and the world's biggest outdoor festival Tomorrowland, Europeans have perfected the formula for holding the most happening events all year round.

The past few years may have affected all the merry-making scheduled across the globe. But with the world finally opening up more, the party scene is also getting fired up again.

Here is everything you need to know and more if you want to dive back into one of the biggest EDM parties in the world: Ultra Europe 2023.

What Is Ultra Europe Music Festival?

Starting in 1999 in the US, the Ultra Music Festival is an outdoor EDM party. Since then, it has expanded into many venues, spanning from South America and Asia, all the way to Australia.

In 2013, its producers decided to add Croatia to its expanding list of venues, marking the beginning of Ultra Europe. The country is a known buzzing hub of parties and festivals, not just in Europe, but worldwide.

Just by doing a quick search online, there are tons of raving reviews about its nightlife, with some even naming it as the best in its league!

The party spans about a week—5 days of non-stop dancing and jamming to your favorite artists! The multi-day event has featured top billers in the electronic music industry such as Afrojack, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Zedd, and many more playing their hit songs under flashing neon lights.

The party also expands to the crystal waters of the Croatian seas. Aside from the beachfront venues, there is also a boat party where you can sip on your cocktail as you sail with fellow partygoers around the archipelago.

If this isn't your idea of a perfect summer, I don't know what is!

When Is Ultra Europe 2022?

We all know how 2020 proved to be a very challenging year worldwide. Events and world travel suddenly had to pause due to the pandemic. Ultra Music Festivals from across the globe weren't spared from the catastrophe. Its producers eventually canceled Ultra Europe 2020 and 2021 for safety reasons.

Ultra celebrations were able to go on from July 8th to 13th at different locations in 2022.

So the only question now is when's the party in 2023? Ultra Europe 2023 is happening July 7th to 9th.

Other important locations and dates are as follows:

  • Regatta Party Brac: July 10th
  • Ultra Beach Hvar: July 11th
  • Resistance Hvar: July 11th
  • Resistance Vis: July 12th

Where Is Ultra Europe 2023?

Park Mladeži in Split is where Ultra Europe has happened since 2013. Split, Croatia is a popular spot for tourists who love the Croatian nightlife!

But the party doesn't stop in Split. Hvar was also added to the lineup where the Ultra Beach and RESISTANCE stages happen. Other stopovers for the party are Brac and Vis where the Regatta Party and RESISTANCE are also held.

Each venue offers a different Ultra Europe experience, so if you can attend them all, I definitely recommend that you do!

Where to Fly in for Ultra Europe

This might be your first time traveling to Croatia so let me help you map your way out to any of the Ultra Europe venues.

Your main point of entry will be Zagreb, Croatia's capital city. From there, you can take local transportation to reach your destination.

How to Get to Split

Coming from Zagreb, the easiest way to get to Split is by getting on a 45-minute domestic flight to Split airport. A 1-way ticket goes for around $89-90 per person, which isn't a bad price for quick air travel.

There's also an option for you to get on a 4-hour drive to the Dalmatian region either by renting a car or getting on a bus.

How to Get to Hvar

The main means of transportation to Hvar from Split are car ferries. Depending on where you're exactly landing in Hvar, it can take you up to almost 2 hours to get to the island from Split.

How to Get to Vis

Just like Hvar, you can get to Vis from Split via car ferries. The ride will take anywhere from 1 hour and 25 minutes up to 2 hours and 20 minutes, depending on the route you will choose.

Where to Stay for Ultra Europe

Now that you have the basics figured out, it's time to look for places to stay in Split, Hvar, or Vis. Luckily, there are plenty of accommodations available in these scenic areas of Croatia so you will never run out of choices!

Just a heads up though, most of the accommodations around the areas where the parties will be held are already a bit on the expensive side. There's always that option to camp out at the venue, but I can't blame you if you want to go all out while in Croatia!

Below are some of our top picks:

Metropole Luxury Rooms, Split

With its charming rooms and proximity to the venue, Metropole is easily a good choice when it comes to booking accommodations near the venue. Coming from a day of hard-partying, you'll surely be able to get some much-needed rest in their comfortable beds.

Riva Marina Hvar Hotel

If you suddenly found yourself unable to snag a room at the Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort, this is a great alternative. Located 7 minutes away from the venue, the newly renovated boutique hotel offers an exquisite taste of the Dalmatian coast.

Hotel Pomalo, Vis

The island of Vis is lined up with apartments that you can rent just for the occasion. But if you're looking to get a more luxurious experience out of your stay in Vis, Hotel Pomalo is a great option for you. With its clean aesthetic and scrumptious breakfast, you'll have the time of your life during your stay in Vis.

Ultra Europe 2023 Lineup

Each of the venues has its lineup, jampacked with your favorite DJs and more! With that being said, I'm pretty sure no one will ever have to deal with FOMO here in case you don't make it to one of the dates!

Here are some of the artists spearheading the 2023 Ultra Europe festival:

  • Adam Beyer
  • Afrojack
  • Alesso
  • Axwell
  • DJ Snake
  • Martin Garrix
  • Zedd
  • …and more!

Tips When Going to Ultra

Wear Comfortable Clothes

As a coastal country, Croatia can be hot and humid in the morning around this time of the year. This type of weather calls for light clothing such as summer dresses to keep you feeling airy and comfy (which can also double as a bikini cover-up if you decide to take a dip!).

There's a chance of light rain during nighttime, so it's good to bring something warm for when the night breeze comes in.

Sunblock is Your Best Friend

With the hot Mediterranean sun above you, you need to keep your skin safe by slathering on sunblock.

No amount is too much, especially if you'll spend most of your days partying under the summer sun.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

As always, keeping your fluid levels in check will help you last the party longer. This doesn't only mean you need to keep on drinking water while you're dancing and sweating it out there.

It also pays not to drink too much alcohol as this is considered a diuretic.

Go Around Town

There are a lot of local buses available in Split, especially during the festival season. Bus lines 7 and 17 will take you to your main destination which is the Poljud Stadium.

Walking around town is also a great way to go around. Not only will it give you a good workout, but it will also introduce you to the sights and sounds of Split.
